THE OLYMPIC GAMES

Textbook : Senior English for China Student's Book 1 Content : Unit 8 Sports —-—The Olympic Games Analysis of the text :

This text gives a brief summary of the history lf the Olympic Games and its development over the years。 The first part of the text explains how the Olympic Games have changed over the years and gives examples of some of the specific changes . The final paragraph describes china’s success in recent Olympic Game and gives a few examples of how China and Beijing are preparing for the 2008 Olympic Games . Teaching purpose : Knowledge :

1. Get the Ss to have a further knowledge of the Olympics , including the history and spirit and

ensure the Ss to love sports.

2. Master “Hot words and useful expression “in the passage。 Ability :

1。 Furhter develop the Ss’ ability of generalizing.

2. To train the students’ abilities of skimming the text to find the general idea ,scanning the text

to find out specific information quickly and finding the topic sentences of each paragraph 。 3. Develop the Ss’ ability of speaking , reading and thinking. Moral :

1. Improve the Ss’ teamwork 。

2。 Love sports and love our country 。

3. By reading the passage , let the students know China is working hard to prepare for the

2008 Olympic Games . To make great contributions for the Beijing Olympic Games , they should study hard to lay a solid foundation . Teaching demands :

Task 1。play the film of NEW BEIJING ,GREAT OLYMPICS The Olympic Games will be held in Beijing in 2008.Its motto is “new Beijing , great Olympics ”。 Do you know anything else about the Olympic Games ? Today we’ll talk about the Olympic Games 。 Purpose : Arise the students and lead in the Opympics Task 2.Introduction to the Olympics (展示课件)

Communicate with the class to present some information of the Olympics . e。 g the five rings ,the Olympic motto ,the IOC , and the host cities of some Olympic Games . 1.—Look at the picture ,what can you see ? --A flag .Yes ,it is the Olympic Flag 。 2。-What colours can you see ?

--White ,black ,yellow ,green ,red , blue 。

Every flag in the world contains at least one of the colours in the Olympic flag . 4. There are five rings joins together 。Can you guess what the five rings are ?

——They are the five continents 。Asia : yellow ; Europe : blue ; Africa : black ; America : black ; Oceania “ green 。 They are joined together as a sign of Friendship 。

英语阅读教学课的主要目标,就是培养学生语言的交际能力,所以我们在英语阅读课的教学中,始终要坚持以学生为主体,教师起主导作用这种教学思想,要发扬学生是学习英语的主人翁精神,激励他们满怀信\\积极主动地投入到课堂各项英语活动中来.让学生了解英语学习过程,掌握英语的学习规律,学会有效的英语学习方法,从而提高他们的阅读效率,实现我们的英语阅读课教学的目的。
