摘要：A method for the compression of redundant sequences of serial data elementsis described which are subdivided into part-sequences each having an arbitrary number ofdata elements and a final character, and a method for the decompression of sequencescompressed in this manner. The method can be used automatically, that is to say bymachine, in a simple manner, particularly in the case of data sequences which areredundant to a high extent, for example television pictures, speech texts and others. Inthe method, elements are in each case combined to form groups of two which thenreceive a code designation. The code designation, in turn, is considered to be an elementand is then processed with the other elements. The results are stored in lists whichcontain a much smaller number of elements than the original data sequences and,accordingly, are less redundant.
